A Probabilistic Closed-form Expression for the Amount of Data Secondary Users can Transmit in Cognitive Radio Networks
2019 Wireless Telecommunications Symposium (WTS)(2019)
摘要
The exponential increase in the demand for streaming multimedia over wireless networks is obstructed by the problem of spectrum scarcity. In an effort to mitigate this problem, cognitive radio (CR) technology was proposed as a solution since it offers a great advantage to unlicensed users, also known as secondary users (SUs), by allowing them to opportunistically access the licensed bands of the primary users (PUs). In this paper, the method of moments is employed to quantify the total amount of data that can be provided by the available primary channels. Specifically, a closed-from approximation for the distribution of the total amount of data available for the SUs over all the available primary channels during any arbitrary interval of time was obtained. The correctness of the obtained closed-form approximation is verified using Monte-Carlo simulations and numerical investigations.
