摘要

•Moderate and heavy alcohol consumption are associated with lower ejection fraction.•There was no influence of alcohol consumption on diastolic function.•Alcohol consumption may be more important in the etiology of HFrEF than HFpEF.•These results confirm public health advice to drink maximum 1 glass of alcohol/day.
