Improved 1-D Model For Semi-Hard Magnetic Material-Based Electromagnets

This paper proposes an improved 1-D model to describe the force generated by semi-hard magnetic material-based electromagnetic actuators. The model is based on the magnetic circuit approach and embeds the Jiles-Atherton model to represent the magnetic hysteresis of the semi-hard magnetic material. Differently from common 1-D techniques, the proposed model builds the magnetic circuit network after a double discretization of the leakage and air gap fluxes. This allows the improved 1-D model to accurately emulate the more complex and computationally expensive 2-D finite-element model.
