Extensive eggshell-like debridement technique plus antibiotic-loaded calcium sulphate for one-stage treatment of chronic calcaneal osteomyelitis

•Extensive shape-preserving debridement combined with antibiotic-impregnated calcium sulfate were applied for one-stage treatment of calcaneal osteomyelitis.•The application of AOFAS ankle and hindfoot score on the calcaneal osteomyelitis, which quantifies the postoperative foot functions.•Post-operative foot and ankle functions are well preserved and the infection remission rate is relatively high.
