•The interface problem with Bloch-periodic boundary condition is solved by PGFEIM.•The PGFEIM can get to second order accurate for both elliptic and elastic interface problems.•The PGFEIM is efficient in band structure computation of phononic crystals.•Both anti-plane transverse waves and in-plane elastic waves are discussed.•The PGFEIM is accurate in dealing with arbitrary complex scatterer geometries.
