Klinik und Poliklinik für Dermatologie, Venerologie und Allergologie des Universitätsklinikums Würzburg: Geschichte und Gegenwart

The following article highlights the almost 150-year history of the Department of Dermatology, Venereology and Allergology of the University Hospital Wurzburg and its predecessor institutions from its foundation up to the present time. The most important steps in the development are described from the first dermatological lecture contents in the late 18th century through the first own department for skin diseases in Wurzburg in 1872, the expansion of the specialty associated with the move into a separate building within the Luitpoldkrankenhaus in the year 1921, the turmoil during the regime of the National Socialism and the modernizations in the post-war period up to the current state as a university hospital of academic maximum care with disease-oriented molecular biological and immunological research and teaching.
