Crepuscular pollination and reproductive ecology of Trembleya laniflora (Melastomataceae), an endemic species in mountain rupestrian grasslands

•Trembleya lanifora presents nocturnal and/or crepuscular anthesis.•T. laniflora is non-apomictic, self-incompatible and dependent on interbreeding.•The pollination is performed mainly by large bees during the crepuscular periods.•The floral traits and reproductive biology are adaptive responses to pollinators.•The reproductive system is associated with the endemism of T. laniflora.
