Incidence of die spacing in the evolution of damage in two-pass wire drawing processes

•A novel uncoupled damage model is proposed based on positive triaxiality rate.•Damage effect on tandem and sequential two-pass drawn wires is analyzed.•An experimental model validation is performed.•Safe-unsafe predictable limits are numerically obtained and assessed.•Triaxiality evolution at wire center is the main difference between both configurations.
