The formation of encouragement achievement and loss avoidance behavior in Finnish and Russian schoolchildren

The comparison of simple tasks fulfillment and learning transfer in the situation of encouragement achievement for success and loss avoidance for mistakes was performed on the basis of assumption that loss avoidance behavior is more differentiated, cognitively complex and detailed as compared to encouragement achievement. The study took place in Finland and in Russia because tendencies to encouragement achievement and loss avoidance are different in different cultures. The differences were found in the indices of task fulfillment and transfer in the situations of encouragement achievement and loss avoidance, characterized by cultural specificity The results of the study show greater differentiation of negative domain of avoidance behavior as compared to the positive domain of achievement experience.
