Reducing CO2 emissions in temperature-controlled road transportation using the LDVRP model

•Temperature control in cooled trucks is responsible for 40% of the CO2 emissions.•We extend the Load Dependent VRP model to account for refrigeration emissions.•The proposed model results in savings in fuel consumption, costs, and emissions.•In cooled transport, emissions can reduce by driving on higher speed routes.
