摘要

•Deoxygenation of octanoic acid in oil-water system.•A noval catalyst with Ni located inside of hollow spherical ZrO2 was prepared.•The hollow spherical ZrO2 performs the role of nanoreactor.•Complete conversion of octanoic acid deoxygenation could be achieved.•The mechanism of deoxygenation for carboxyl function group was studied by DFT.
