A Probe into College Students' Views on Love Based on Sternberg's Triangular Theory of Love

In order to verify the rationality of Sternbergu0027s triangular theory of love and to investigate current college studentsu0027 views on love, a survey was conducted in 382 undergraduate students by using a self-editing questionnaire College Studentsu0027 View on Love. The findings are as follows. Firstly, it is feasible to sinicize Sternbergu0027s triangular theory of love. Secondly, boysu0027 views on love are more positive than girls. As for the standards of choosing spouse, boys emphasize personality traits and inner cultivation, and girls are more concerned with moral quality and ability. Thirdly, for the importance of love elements, boys care more about passion and commitment, and girls care more about intimacy. Fourthly, the students who have love experience can understand and accept passion, commitment and expressing love more than those who do not have. Love failure experiences have bad effects on university studentsu0027 love view. Finally, the female student who is the only child of family takes more initiative in pursuing love than those with siblings.
