Development and validation of a liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometric assay for quantitative analyses of triptans in hair

•An analytical method for quantitative analysis of triptans in hair was validated.•The validated method was applied in authentic hair samples.•Triptans have been determined for the first time in hair matrix.•The developed method could represent a helpful tool for intake monitoring.
