•IL-10 and IFN- γ prevent CXCR1 down-modulation during culture of human Mo.•Incubation with IL-10 plus IFN- γ lead to the highest CX3CR1 expression by cell.•IL-10 and IFN-γ induced PI3K-dependent serine-phosphorylation of STAT3 or STAT 1.•chemical inhibitors of STAT1 or STAT3 abrogate IFN-γ or IL-10 effects, respectively.•only IL-10 increases CX3CR1 mRNA level by augmenting its stability.
