Exploratory design of mechanical devices with motion constraints.

•Drawing machines are simple and fun to use, yet complex to design.•Our method allows to explore the space of patterns under geometric constraints.•We analyze an input sketch to determine initial machine parameters.•At any point, the designs are guaranteed to be physically realizable.•The user moves in this space via sliders whose bounds are automatically updated.
