Reducing ICU blood draws with artificial intelligence

Laboratory testing occurs frequently in hospitalized patients [1]. This is especially so for patients in intensive care where frequent blood draws may cause increased general phlebotomy complications such as blood loss [2], [3]. While part of this testing reflects the intrinsic critical status of ICU patients, other tests are run almost by default, following general guidelines and not patient specific characteristics [4].
