Novel anti-infective activities of chitosan immobilized titanium surface with enhanced osteogenic properties.

•Titanium surface was modified with chitosan and different properties were studied.•The modification significantly increased antibiotic susceptibility of bacteria.•The modification entirely prevented bacterial invasion into osteoblast-like cells.•Osteogenic properties were noticeably improved with the chitosan modification.
