Stability Analysis for LTI Control Systems with Controller Failures and its Application in Failure Tolerant Control

In this paper, the stability and failure tolerant control are investigated for linear time-invariant (LTI) control systems with occasional controller failures. At first, a collection of non-convex sufficient conditions ensuring the closed loop to be globally asymptotically stable is presented, which are simple to use but difficult to consider for control purpose. To overcome this, a time-scheduled Lyapunov function approach is considered and alternative convex conditions are obtained. Based on this result, a time-dependent failure-tolerant controller is designed. The approach is finally illustrated on a networked control system.
