Investigation of psychiatric symptoms in patients with heroin dependence

Objective:This study was aimed to evaluate a broad range of psychiatric symptoms in 139 patients with heroin dependence.Methods:We used the Symptom Checklist 90(SCL-90) to evaluate the psychiatric symptoms among heroin dependence patients.Results:In this study,SCL-90 scores were higher in heroin dependent patients than normal controls,with significance levels P0.01 in all dimensions of the instrument except for symptom of obsession-compulsion.Conclusion:This study showed high levels of psychiatric symptoms in patients with heroin dependence.The results indicate a need to pay more attention to psychiatric symptoms in their treatment.
