摘要
In a regulation context where odor control becomes a major goal for waste treatment facilities, olfactory nuisance must be limited for neighboring residents. Present methods to evaluate odors exit, but, they are not relevant for characterizing the odor on a qualitative or quantitative basis, which is fundamental for olfactory nuisance control. An odor classification scheme using a wastewater wheel and odor profile analysis is a methodology that has been developed since 1999 to help odor characterization. This article presents two cases studies on wastewater treatment plants using the wastewater odor wheel classification scheme. The both studies have been carried out to assess odor emissions inside and around two wastewater plants and to prioritize the odor sources to help define an odor control management plan.
