摘要
The effects of interfacial reaction between the whisker and matrix on the erosion resistance of aluminum matrix composites at steady states were studied by conducting two reaction treatments. The interfacial reaction between the A18B4O33 whisker and AC4C Al matrix changed the mechanical properties and erosion characteristics of the composites. Suitable reaction treatment improved the erosion resistance with a strong interfacial bond and better whisker strength at high impingement angles. However, excessive heat treatment reduced the erosion resistance which was manifested by weak and brittle interface fracture at small strains and the failure to resist the microcutting or microploughing due to the low strength and hardness at the specimen surface.
