Research of Stream Memory Hierarchy

The Imagine stream architecture provides three-level memory hierarchy, which can solve bandwidth bottleneck effectively. Based on the implementation of the Reed-Solomon decoding on the Imagine platform, the effects of the stream memory hierarchy and other kinds of performance are analyzed in this paper. The Imagine is also compared with TI's DSP TMS320C6x thoroughly and results show that the Imagine has comparable and even better performance than C64x. It validates the efficiency of the stream memory hierarchy and makes contribution to extend the application domain of the stream architecture.
