MIMO performance in UTRA FDD uplink

Abstract: We examine the uplink performance of MIMO systemsin the framework of UTRA FDD mode using analytical toolsand simulations. Results show that the uplink performance of theUTRA FDD mode is significantly improved by SIMO and MIMOtechniques. While the performance increase from additionalreceive antennas in base station reflects straightforwardly to theresults, the diversity gain from additional transmit antennas inthe mobile end is small.
