摘要
We are delighted to welcome you to the second workshop on Hot Topics in Software Defined Networks (HotSDN). Software Defined Networking (SDN) refactors the relationship between network devices and the software that controls them. Open interfaces to network switches enable more flexible and predictable network control, and they make it easier to extend network function. Many research and industry groups worldwide are pursuing different aspects of SDN, and experimental and production deployments exist. The workshop program covers many of the open research challenges with SDN, including: how to design switches and APIs; how to design a software platform for the control and management of SDN; how to design new applications that capitalize on the programmability of the network; how to lower the barrier to creating, testing, and evaluating new applications; and many others. This year's Call for Papers attracted 84 submissions, up from 72 submissions last year. After reviewing the submissions, the Program Committee decided that there were simply too many high-quality papers for a one-day program, so we added a poster session to the program. In the end, we accepted 24 full papers in addition to 14 poster papers. We believe the result is a exciting and content-filled program that provides a snapshot of the state of the art in this new and exciting field.
