Aplicação de técnicas de geoprocessamento para a preservação dos recursos hídricos e estudos de vulnerabilidade socioambiental

The present study uses techniques of spatial information treatment to identify areas of high social vulnerability in urban spaces. At first, a theoretical discussion is accomplished, based on main contributions recently published about the theme. So, the project shows a methodological description viewing the preservation of hydrical resources in urban areas, applying this methodology to the study of the "Córrego do Onça" hydrographic basin. This basin covers part of Belo Horizonte and Contagem and about the application of the law 9.433/97 it shows a lot of important challenges. Occupying an area of 212,3 Km² and having a population equivalent a 44% of total of Belo Horizonte and Contagem, it is verified that a significant part of these inhabitants live in high environmental vulnerability areas, liable to risks of landslides and floods.
