个人简介
At Emoters, we’re developing simple pets that happen to be robots. These tiny, autonomous robots are being designed to be lifelike, exhibit believable emotions, and inspire authentic caretaking, like a simple pet. Emoters is a startup based in Austin, TX. Our website is www.emoterbots.com.
-----------
For ~9 years before Emoters, I have conducted research at UT Austin and MIT on the control of robots and other agents, machine learning (reinforcement learning in particular), human-robot interaction, and computational models of human behavior for cognitive science research.
In the last 2 years of my fully active research career, I received a Best Paper award at ICSR, was named one of AI's 10 to Watch by IEEE Intelligent Systems, won the 2012 award for the best dissertation from my doctoral department, and designed and taught a course entitled Interactive Machine Learning. Of the 21 Fall 2013 MIT Media Lab courses, this course was rated highest on "[instructor] stimulated interest”, “subject’s learning objectives were met”, and “[instructor] helped me learn".
