Burr Proton Therapy Center at Mass General, co-director of the Center for Sarcoma and Connective Tissue Oncology, and the Andres Soriano Professor of Radiation Oncology at Harvard Medical School. He’s served on the executive board of the Connective Tissue Oncology Society and the National Comprehensive Cancer Network Soft Tissue Sarcoma Guidelines Panel, and currently serves as a member of the Scientific Advisory Board of the Chordoma Foundation.
Dr. DeLaney is currently involved in clinical research on the treatment of soft tissue and bone sarcomas as well as the use of charged particle (proton) radiation therapy. His major work in the application of new technology has been in the ongoing development of proton radiation therapy treatment techniques, particularly as applied to spine and pelvic sarcomas. He was also the principal investigator on a National Cancer Institute-funded clinical and applied physics Proton Radiation Therapy Research Program Project Grant.
In addition to his extensive research, Dr. DeLaney is also committed to teaching and mentoring. He’s guided junior faculty and fellows in Radiation Oncology, Orthopaedic Oncology, Surgical Oncology, and Medical Oncology, as well as medical students on clinical rotations and radiation oncology residents on the Sarcoma Service. He also hosts visiting clinicians from particle radiation therapy facilities around the world who are interested in learning proton radiation therapy techniques.
