Spiros Fotopoulos was born in Kalamata, Greece, in 1952 and is a father of 5 children. He completed his B.Sc. studies in the Department of Physics at the University of Athens (1969-1974) and received his PhD in Electronics in 1983 from the Department of Physics of the University of Patras (Prof. T. Deliyannis). During his PhD studies, he visited the Department of Electrical Engineering, Imperial College , London. He visited (6 months) the Tampere University of Technology (Prof. Neuvo) and got experience in median and nonlinear digital filters. He has been an academic member of staff of the University of Patras since 1983. He is Professor of Signals and Circuits since 2003 and Director at the Interdepartmental Course of Postgraduate Studies in “Electronics and Information Processing” of the University of Patras. He is collaborating researcher in the Medical Radiation Physics(MRP) , BIOPHARMA and OBSEARTH, intra university networks of the University of Patras.
