个人简介
I did my PhD research at imec, and I obtained my PhD on cross-layer optimization for energy efficient wireless systems in September 2006 from KU Leuven, with honors. During the PhD, I had the opportunity to do an internship at National Semiconductor Corporation, Santa Clara USA, and be a visiting researcher at UC Berkeley. After the PhD, I went to UC Berkeley for a post-doc on cognitive radio and networking. After two amazing years in the bay area, I rejoined the wireless group at imec Leuven, first as senior researcher and then as principal scientist. My work at imec focused on spectrum sensing for cognitive radio, and software defined radio for LTE, WLAN and video broadcasting standards.
Since October 1st 2012, I am assistant professor at KU Leuven/ESAT/TELEMIC. I am ramping up research related to networked systems. The Internet-of-Things promises ever more devices to be connected, so we need solutions that scale nicely with node density, are smart, self-learning, heterogeneous. The complex wireless scene consists of swarm networks, LTE cellular networks as well as future aerial mobile sensor networks. Many interesting challenges and opportunities combined!
In general, I have authored many papers, and cooperated with even more people across the world during the research projects I have been involved in. More details can be found on Google Scholar. In addition, I have served on the TPC of several conferences since 2008 (such as ICC or Globecom) and have been a reviewer for dozens of IEEE Transactions papers.
My research interests are:
wireless communication
software defined radio and cognitive radio
sensor networks
energy-proportional communication
wireless standards: WLAN, WPAN, LTE
cross-layer optimization
learning in networks
aerial sensor networks
Context aware ubiquitous electronics : CubiqLab
