Patrick C. Shih is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Information and Library Science at Indiana University. His research utilizes mixed methods approaches to tackle research problems in human-computer interaction, social media, collective intelligence, crowdsourcing, and online and geographic communities. Currently, he focuses on leveraging awareness of individual and community activities embedded in social media and online forums in the design and construction of novel civic engagement platforms. He received his B.S. in Computer Science and Engineering from UCLA (2003), M.S. in Information Networking from Carnegie Mellon (2005), and Ph.D. in Information and Computer Science from UC Irvine (2011). He was a Research Associate and Lecturer in the College of Information Sciences and Technology at The Pennsylvania State University from 2012 to 2015.
