个人简介
I have over 15 years’ experience of working in academic research relating to different strands of human health. My expertise is in cardiovascular pathology and diagnosis.
I joined the Department of Primary care in Oxford in December 2011 to work with Professor Richard McManus on a new research area examining the use of self-monitoring of blood pressure during and following pregnancy. The aim of this work is the earlier detection of gestational hypertensive disorders such as pre-eclampsia. If shown to be successful this work could have a significant impact on maternal morbidity and mortality and could benefit many women in the UK and worldwide. I am responsible for the day to day management of this programme of work.
I have received NSPCR funding for a feasibility study of proteinuria self-testing in higher risk pregnancy and this is currently in follow up. Further to this I am involved in a systematic review and individual patient data analysis of the literature on self-monitoring in pregnancy and development of new research directions in this area.
I collaborate with the Nuffield department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology bringing together expertise in reproductive science, cardiovascular biology and clinical trials. This is an exciting developing area that I hope will continue to develop and become a productive collaboration between basic science and clinical research.
