个人简介
Prof. Chung-Ta King received the B.S. degree in electrical engineering from National Taiwan University, Taiwan, R.O.C., in 1980, and the M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in computer science from Michigan State University, East Lansing, Michigan, in 1985 and 1988, respectively. From 1988 to 1990, he was an assistant professor of computer and information science at New Jersey Institute of Technology, New Jersey. In 1990, he joined the faculty of the Department of Computer Science, National Tsing Hua University, Taiwan, where he is currently a professor. He served as the chair of the department from 2009 to 2012. His research interests include parallel and distributed processing and networked embedded systems.
During 2005 and 2007, he served as the coordinator of the Embedded Software Consortium, Ministry of Education, overseeing and coordinating the efforts of designing embedded software curriculum and courses, and promoting the curriculum to universities in Taiwan. He is a member of the IEEE. He also served in IEEE Taipei Section as the officer for Educational Activities, 1997~1998, and the officer for Membership Development, 2005~2006, respectively. He acted as the directory of the Computer and Communication Research Center, National Tsing Hua University, from 2006 to 2009. The center is a university-level research center for academic-industry collaboration. Prof. King has led a number of large-scaled, multi-disciplinary research projects, which each involved 7 to 12 professors, full-time engineers and staffs, and tens of graduate students. The project spanned from Internet-based distributed computing to wireless sensor networks. Prof. King is very active in international research community. He has organized many international conferences, such as CloudCom 2012, ESWeek 2011, SOCA 2009, MDM 2009, HPC-Asia 2009, ACSAC 2008, ICPADS 2007, etc., serving as the general chairs or program chairs. He has also frequently been invited to the program committees of international conferences, such as ASP-DAC 2013, SC 2009, PDCAT 2009, ICPP 2009, etc. He is currently an associate editor of International Journal of Ad Hoc and Ubiquitous Computing.
Prof. King received the Outstanding Teaching Award, College of Electronic Engineering and Computer Science, National Tsing Hua University, in 2003, and the Outstanding Teaching Award, National Tsing Hua University, 2004. He has also been awarded the Best Paper Awards in HPCS 1997, EUC 2004, and ISOCC 2008.
My current research interestes include parallel computer architecture and networked embedded systems. My research lab can be found here. The projects that I am currently involved in include the followings:
Multicore architecture ,
Theme: application development, simulation 。environment, and trace processing for heterogeneous many-core systems 。
Fundings: National Science Concil, Industrial Technology Research Institute, MediaTek 。
Collaborators: Prof. Yeh-Ching Chung, Prof. Wei-Chung Hsu (CS, NCTU), Prof. Jing-Jia Liou (EE,NTHU), Prof. Chih-Tsun Huang 。
Outcomes: We have developed several NoC designs that leverage knowledges of application behaviors to speculate future requests. We have studied execution traces of many-core systems and investigated ways the traces can be more useful for architecutre research. Our current research focuses more on heterogeneous many-core systems.
